Stay Up to Date with Local Ecological Research – Sign Up for ecoNEWS Vermont
If you want to keep up with ecological research in Vermont but don’t know where to start or don't have time to read as many research articles as you’d like, ecoNEWS Vermont may be the perfect newsletter for you!
EcoNEWS Vermont aims to help Vermonters learn from published ecological research conducted in Vermont. The website highlights recent research, and its quarterly newsletter contains stories that are easy to read on the go. The website also lists local events and ecological news snippets from beyond Vermont.
If you’re a researcher or a graduate student, ecoNEWS Vermont is a tool to share your research with a broader audience and sharpen your communication and writing skills. You can submit an abstract and work with our writers on a news story based on published research findings.
If you’re a community member or practitioner, sign up for our newsletter to receive short, digestible stories about recent ecological research. We write about water quality, forests, wildlife, agroecology, green infrastructure, and more, and we highlight web-based environmental tools and how to use them. We also post local events of interest to researchers, practitioners, and the public ranging from nature walking tours with Audubon Vermont to regional water quality conferences to educational webinar series.
Often, research articles are behind a paywall and contain a lot of jargon. EcoNEWS Vermont is here to help. The website provides a single point of entry to the latest science as it shares current knowledge about Vermont’s ecosystems.
Lake Champlain Sea Grant funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Vermont Water Center funded by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), and the Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Cooperative (FEMC) maintain ecoNEWS Vermont, which was established in 2014 and sends quarterly newsletters to more than 300 subscribers around the state.
